Dr. Ilia Rachkov is an attorney at law in Russia, arbitrator, and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He holds an LL.M. and has extensive experience in dispute resolution, investments and capital markets, and mergers and acquisitions. Since graduating from the Law Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1996, he has advised foreign and Russian companies, banks, and state authorities on investment and dispute resolution matters, including litigation before state courts and domestic and international arbitration proceedings.
He is currently a Partner at Nektorov, Saveliev & Partners in Moscow. His previous professional experience includes positions at Clifford Chance Pünder, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Vinson & Elkins, Noerr, and King & Spalding. Dr. Rachkov has also acted as a Russian law expert in proceedings before courts and tribunals in several jurisdictions, including the United States, England and Wales, Sweden, Jersey, Switzerland, and before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Dr. Rachkov is listed as a recommended arbitrator by several arbitral institutions, including the Baku Arbitration Centre, the Russian Arbitration Center, the Arbitration Center at the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, DIAC, HKIAC, the International Arbitration Centre at the AIFC, the Israel Institute of Business Arbitration, LMAA, and SIAC. He has acted as arbitrator in numerous commercial and international disputes under various institutional rules, including appointments by the LMAA, AIFC IAC, DIS, ICC, ICAC at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, RAC, RSPP, and under the Swiss Arbitration Rules.
In addition to his legal practice, Dr. Rachkov teaches international economic law and arbitration-related subjects at leading Russian universities, including the Higher School of Economics, RANEPA, and Saint Petersburg State University. From 2012 to 2024, he taught various disciplines of international law at MGIMO, and from 2000 to 2007, he taught public international law at Lomonosov Moscow State University. His working languages include Russian, German, English, French, and Polish.
